Testing the standard model and schemes for quark mass matrices with CP asymmetries in B decays.
The values of sin 2α and sin 2β, where α and β are angles of the unitarity triangle, will be readily measured in a B factory (and maybe also in hadron colliders). We study the standard model constraints in the sin 2α − sin 2β plane. We use the results from recent analyses of fB and τb|Vcb| which take into account heavy quark symmetry considerations. We find sin 2β ≥ 0.15 and most likely sin 2β ...
متن کاملTau Decays Beyond the Standard Model
In a recent paper, 8 semileptonic parameters were defined to specify the most general Lorentz-invariant spin correlation functions for 2-body τ decays. These parameters can be used to search for anomalous ΓL, ΓT polarized-partial widths, for non-CKM-type leptonic CP violation, and for leptonic T̃FS violation. They can also be used to bound the effective-mass scales Λ for “new physics” arising fr...
متن کاملPrecision tests of the Standard Model with K`3 decays
I present a brief overview of the theoretical status of K 3 decays and their use as probes of lepton universality, light quark mass ratios, and CKM unitarity. I discuss in some detail the constraints imposed on the light quark masses by current measurements of the ratio of charged to neutral K 3 rates. * Speaker. † I would like to thank the organizers for partial financial support and the stimu...
متن کاملProbing the Standard Model with Electroweak Penguin B Decays
Recent branching fraction and asymmetry results of Electroweak Penguin B decays from BaBar, Belle and CLEO experiments are reviewed. While these branching fractions are consistent with the Standard Model expectations and are being used to extract heavy quark model parameters and CKM matrix elements, the asymmetry results are just becoming sensitive to observe any new physics effects.
متن کاملTop Pair Production Iii: Testing the Standard Model in Top Quark Decays
The set of quarks expected in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics was fully observed in 1995 with the discovery of the top quark by the CDF and DØ collaborations. All quantum numbers of the top quark except the mass are expected to be identical to those of the other two up-type quarks. Within the Standard Model these quantities fully define the production and decay properties of the top...
